Swat Valley: The Switzerland of Pakistan

Since you all know that Pakistan is filled with beautiful places, let’s virtually tour another one today. Known as the Switzerland of Pakistan, Swat is filled with unmatchable beauty. Rather than planning a vacation abroad, you can just go to Swat to enjoy the beautiful nature, the rivers, lakes, and the mountains.

Kalam is located in the northern reaches of Swat, along Swat River. It is also the birthplace of the Swat River. Kalam is a popular tourist attraction and gains many tourists due to its lakes, forests and mountains. The two main easily accessible lakes in Kalam are Mahodand lake and Kundol lake. These lakes are accessible through jeep-able tracks.

Mahodand is a scenic lake, located 40 km from Kalam valley. It is a good spot for boating, fishing and camping. It lies amidst snow-capped mountains and thick forest, which add to the beauty of the crystal blue water of the lake.

Similarly, another beautiful lake is the Kundol lake. It is located only 19 km from Kalam. It is located at the foothill of Hindu Kush mountains.

Another tourist attraction that you can visit while on your trip to Swat valley and Kalam is Jahaz Banda, in Kumrat Valley. It is a beautiful green meadow surrounded by snow-clad mountains and trees. You can access it via Upper Dir. The road from Upper Dir enters Lamoti Village. After that, you can take jeeps till Jandrai village. After that, you have to trek to reach Jahaz Banda.
