Harappa Site

Harappa was the earliest culture of the sub-continent, and it was located along River Indus, hence the name. It dates back to 3300-1300 BCE. The Indus Valley Civilization had a pretty urban planning with baked brick houses, proper water supply and drainage systems, and residential buildings. You can observe all this in the area that has been excavated. This place doesn’t see many tourists, so you’ll be able to explore all that there is to see and get a sense of the rich culture that used to exist here. There are also guest houses in the area to make your stay more pleasant.

The Harappa Museum is only a 35 min drive from Sahiwal. When the excavations were done, a large number of artifacts were discovered at the Harappan site like seals, ritual objects, stone tools, copper and bronze objects, terracotta female animal figurines, shell and ivory objects, weights, children toys, Human Skeletons and a large number of other pottery objects. All these are exhibited in the museum, so it’s a must visit when you visit Harappa. The museum will provide you a full taste of the civilization that lived here many years ago.
